GROUP REGISTRATION
The Congress will be hosted in the famous Palazzo del Casinò, also known for the Film Festival. The venue is a beautiful construction which directly overlooks Venice and the sea, and since the 30s has had some of the most famous people of all times as its guests. This imposing building features elegant Venetian-style salons, with a scrupulous care paid to all the smallest details and precious interiors

Bank and exchange
The national currency in Italy is the Euro (€). Many banks have automatic currency exchange machines that also take credit cards. The main international credit cards (VISA, American Express, Diners, Eurocard/Mastercard) are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Service charges are usually included in the bill in pubs and restaurants, but tips are welcome.
Climate and weather conditions
Venice has a temperate climate with warm summers and cold winters. Summer climate is normally hot, however some rain can occur. Average temperature in May is 22°/25°C (Celsius).
Smoking policy
Participants are requested to refrain from smoking throughout the Convention Centre.
Electricity
Voltage is 220V AC, 50Hz. Plugs have two or three round pins. Foreign voltage could require an adapter.
Emergency phone numbers
The most important telephone numbers in an emergency are: 113 or 112 for calling the police/carabinieri, 115 for the fire brigade, 118 for the ambulance service.
Entry requirements/visas
Passport and visa requirements may differ according to the country of origin, please contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country. ESPRM 2010 will not be held responsible for visa not granted. An official invitation letter will be sent upon request. It must be understood that such letters do not represent a commitment on the part of the Organizing Committee or Congress to provide any financial assistance. Official invitation letters can be requested to the President of the Congress Prof. Alessandro Giustini (e-mail:

) at least two months in advance.
Insurance/liability
It is recommended that all participants take out a personal travel and health insurance prior to commencement of travel. Further information can be obtained from your travel agent.
Liability
The Organising Committee and/or Congress Organisers shall not be held liable for personal accidents or losses or damage to private property of registered delegates of the Congress. Delegates should make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance.
Public transport
It is possible to tour Venice solely on foot, but if you are staying for any length of time, you'll find the “vaporetti” (i.e. “waterbuses”) very useful. The word vaporetto is used to describe the city's various types of public ferry service. Other terms you may hear are motoscafo, battello (boat). There is an ACTV ticket office between Piazzale Roma and the canal which has ticket desks inside and outside, and this is a good place to sort out your travel tickets on arrival. You should buy tickets in advance (stock up at a ticket kiosk by the major stops). The first time you use your ticket you must validate it before travel by inserting it to be date-stamped in one of the yellow machines on the jetty.
Restaurants
From a quick snack to a gourmet meal at a fine restaurant the choices for eating out in Venice are endlessly varied. There are “Ristoranti” offering high quality food and wines; “Trattorie”, inns and restaurants (including luxury ones) everywhere that offer traditional Venetian dishes to eat; “Osterie”, typically family-run restaurants offering regional dishes cooked in a home-style fashion; ”Ethnic Cuisine”, Restaurants, whose menus reflect the cuisine of other countries or cultures other than Italian.
